Barionet console connection (serial)
This article describes how to connect a USB-to-serial adapter to the console port of the Barionet so you can access the serial console port of the device
The Barionet devices have a 3.3V ttl serial console port which operates at 115.2kBaud. You can connect to those with a usual USB-ttl serial cables which are available fro, many sources.
The ttl serial adapters typically have four wires. One carries power from the USB port and must not be connected anywhere.
Barionet 500 console connection

There is an 8-pin pinheader connector close to Ethernet connector and LED strip. The Black, White and Green wires of the ttl serial adapter need to be connected here. Note that the black (ground) wire uses the "upper row, left most pin, as seen if you have the ethernet connector facing towards you. The data pins (white and green) use the lower row, seond (white) and third (green) pin counted from left. See pictures.
Note: white is RxD ("weiss" in german), green is TxD ("grün" in german), "schwarz" means black


You will need a terminal program to connect to the serial port on your host. There are many out there, you have choices. When you connect, using 115.2k baud, 8,n,1 and power up the Barionet you will see the startup dialog and after successful startup you will get the standard linux prompt (# as you are root).

There is a 4 pin header on the right side of the qino board, below the serial connector.
The upper three pins are black, white, green. fourth pin is unused. pictures will follow
